We currently accept projects between 1-40 minutes including credits.
BFF accepts all scripted narrative genres, we do not accept music videos or documentaries.
We’re proud to be an international short film festival and welcome all foreign language projects. However, please ensure your short film has English subtitles for the purposes of our screening.
All submissions are handled via FilmFreeway. We don’t accept submissions by post or email. Click here to submit via FilmFreeway.
We no longer accept short screenplay submissions. Unfortunately, we don’t handle treatments for short films.
You certainly can! Breakout Film Festival is open for all nationalities.
Submissions are handled via FilmFreeway for a small submission fee. Submissions Fees go towards judging your short film and running the live screening event for the selected short films. We don’t provide free waiver codes.

We don’t accept music videos for competition. However, if your short film is a fictional narrative musical we are happy to accept.
Unfortunately not. Breakout Film Festival is for short narrative films only.
Due to the amount of submissions we receive each month, we are unable to provide individual feedback for each submission.
Please ensure you have permission to use all aspects of your short film including music. We’re unable to screen short films that are a breach of copyright.
Submissions for each monthly contest close midnight on the last day of the month.
We accept single episodes of web-series as long it runs as a short narrative episode. We don’t accept pilots for TV shows.
Sadly we’re not able to accept commercials/advertisements.
Notifications are sent around the 20th of the following month.
