Kasper’s short film ‘I’m Here’ is part of the official selection for our 2020 festival.
What was the inspiration behind making this film?
My thoughts went on how it feels to be left alone. Alone in a world you have built for yourself, with the belief that this is the best life for me. How would the moment be when you realize that you have made the wrong choice and from here it only gets worse.
What did you learn from the experience making the film?
To pick the simplest narrative. To cut everything not necessary so the main story shines clearly through what the experience I as a viewer should receive.
How has the film been received?
Really good, several have called it visual poetry. To me, that's a big compliment.
What do you love the most about the filmmaking process?
To explore the worlds, emotions and moods that arise during the development of story. Then get to relive all of them in the process with other people who are passionate about visualizing thoughts and ideas for others to experience.
What is your advice to budding filmmakers making their debut short film?
Keep creating and overcoming the challenges that arise. Get to know, immerse and cherish the way you see the world and express yourself, that's your strength.
What are you up to next?
I'm in the final stages of the post process on a longer short film. A story about having control over other people and what emptiness it can create. Set in a sci-fi world where IT systems are incorporated into our bodies and boundaries of what life is and what is acceptable to do with it has shifted tremendously.
